Hip pack of corte with huipil

These hip packs are made of Mayan women's recycled skirt material or corte with compound ikats (what most people incorrectly call double ikat). Compound ikats have ikat-dyed yarns in both warp and weft, but the images created are superimposed to create a plaid look. True double ikat is very rare, it has a single image on the cloth created by the convergence of the ikat-dyed yarns of both warp and weft. Corte of several distinct village varieties as well as differing huipils in the central showpiece are used to make these hip packs. There is a large zippered compartment with a small zippered pocket on it's face, as well as a flat zippered pocket in the back. Adjustable belt holds well for average waist sizes.
