Wool kufi with Solola applique


These kufis or "pillbox hats" are made from wool grown and woven by the Quiche Maya of Momostenango and adorned by the Cakchiquel with appliques done in the style of Solola. The arabesques on the top depict a bat because it is one of this tribe's power animals.
