Bags of Recycled Weaving

Wherever I use the term "Recycled Weaving", it means the item is made from a handwoven textile that has been previously used. What a delight to visit a culture where the indigenous people still handweave their own native costume. Previous to the hippie era, only rare individuals such as Frida Kahlo dared to wear native clothing in public. Never underestimate the psychological support these peoples have felt to see Westerners don their garb; albeit with mixed feelings. Because the wearer is usually the weaver, these textiles are not made with the less caring attitude of a factory environment. And because they have been used, not only do they serve their original purpose; but the weavers also gain added value. And I am able to sell high quality weaving at a lower price. To produce these items with brand new weaving of this quality would not be commercially viable. The bags here are classed by village, tribe and bag type. The showpiece on front is usually from a Mayan huipil (wee-peel) or blouse and the back from a corte (kor-te) or skirt. Thank you for helping rescue these endangered textiles.
